"These are the entrepreneurs that will make a change and ensure that the world will be able to deal with climate change."
Meike van Ginniken, Water envoy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the 2023 P4G Colombia Summit

As the world’s population grows and the threats from climate change become more pronounced, the need for sustainable development intensifies. No one country, company or community has all the answers. That’s why we need to foster partnerships among businesses, governments and civil society. This is where P4G – Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 comes in. P4G accelerates, funds and recognises innovative public-private partnerships driving green growth.

P4G is a network of leaders from government, business and civil society working to accelerate green growth in many of the 150 emerging markets across the world. Already we are working in partnership with leaders in the following countries: Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, the Netherlands, South Africa, the Republic of Korea, and Vietnam. Our partner countries see public-private partnerships as key to meeting their Sustainable Development Goals. We also benefit from the active support of partner organisations. These include: C40, IFC, Global Green Growth Institute, UN Global Compact, World Economic Forum, and World Resources Institute, which also hosts P4G’s Global Hub in Washington, DC.

Themes
The P4G programme focusses on breakthrough solutions in five Sustainable Development Growth (SDG) sectors:

SDG's

Food security
Feeding the global population in a sustainable manner is one of the greatest challenges in a rapidly urbanising world. The combined effects of population growth, climate change and urbanisation are expected to double global demand for food by 2050. The Netherlands is willing to share its food and agriculture knowledge and technology to ensure future food security.

Safe water
Climate change, expanding economies and urbanisation are putting the world's coastal and delta populations at risk. The global population faces significant water security threats related to: water supply, water pollution, wastewater removal, sanitation and associated ill health, and the socio-economic impacts of droughts and floods. As an expert in water and delta technology and nature-based solutions, the Netherlands is committed to solving water-related challenges around the world.

Clean energy
Climate and geopolitical pressures are leading to the acceleration of the energy transition. The world is predicted to consume nearly 36% more energy in the next 30 years. As fossil fuels are phased out, renewables such as green hydrogen, solar and wind energy are growing fast.

Sustainable cities
More than one half of the world population now lives in urban areas. Experts predict the world’s urban population will double by 2050. As the global population continues to grow, more and more people are moving to cities. Three Dutch cities are listed in the top 50 sustainable cities, Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam.  By joining hands with our global partners, the Netherlands hopes to enhance liveability, sustainability and inclusivity of all cities.

Circular economy
The Netherlands collaborates with governments around the world to move towards a circular economy, by sharing lessons learnt and insights on setting up extended producer responsibility or starting with circular public procurement as a pull factor. Amsterdam has adopted the circular economy pricinples set up in the donut laid down by British economist Kate Raworth

The P4G Dutch National Platform is administered by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, operating under the auspices of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. Its activities are commissioned by the various Dutch ministries and the European Union. The Netherlands is both partner country and financial supporter of P4G.
