Since 2001, when the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage and adoption for same-sex couples, we’ve proudly celebrated the freedom to marry whomever you love. More than 20,000 same-sex marriages have since been registered here, and over 30 countries have followed suit – a milestone that began in Amsterdam and continues to inspire progress worldwide.
