Since 2001, when the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage and adoption for same-sex couples, we’ve proudly celebrated the freedom to marry whomever you love. More than 20,000 same-sex marriages have since been registered here, and over 30 countries have followed suit – a milestone that began in Amsterdam and continues to inspire progress worldwide.

Making them cleaner, smarter, and more environmentally responsible.

In the Netherlands, snacks are more than just comfort food, they're a reflection of the country's character: practical yet playful, modest yet deeply expressive. Utopia Island in Flevoland is a real-world experiment in sustainable land use. Created on land reclaimed from the sea, it combines food production, nature restoration and hands-on learning in one evolving landscape. It offers a practical, hopeful example of how we might rethink our relationship with land, food and the environment.

In April 2025, the NLwatertech2Italy cluster went on a mission to Italy, visiting key cities including Milan, Parma, Verona, and Treviso. This mission aimed to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge, and explore innovative solutions for shared water management challenges amidst the growing impacts of climate change.
