Connecting you to agriculture, horticulture, and biodiversity in the Netherlands

The world's current food systems are a threat to both people and our planet. We need to rethink the way we produce our food, and how we can increase supply while reducing the negative impact on the environment.

As a renowned and reliable leader in agrifood and horticulture, the Netherlands strives to support the global efforts to fast track this transition. It also continues to contribute as a key partner in innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of the global food system, restore and protect nature and biodiversity and sustainably improve the productivity. Our advanced knowledge, innovation and experience can benefit countries worldwide to address various challenges on the path towards food security.

The Netherlands believes that by working together across sectors and regions we can create a sustainable food system for people, planet and prosperity.

Netherlands Agricultural Network

The Netherlands Agricultural Network (LAN) represents the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature abroad. It contributes to the various challenges sustainable food systems face worldwide, such as food security, biodiversity loss and climate change. LAN is a worldwide network of agricultural counsellors and their teams of local staff who are active in 62 Dutch Embassies and Consulates-General, covering over 77 countries. The network also represents the Netherlands at international organisations: the European Union in Brussels, OECD in Paris and FAO, WFP, IFAD in Rome.

The LAN teams connect Dutch know-how, innovations and partnerships to these international priorities. They do so, based on the Dutch diamond approach, by supporting and working together with governments, companies, knowledge institutions, and civil society organisations in the international domain of agriculture, fisheries, food and nature.
