Security cloud with lock

Cybersecurity USA

The world is more interconnected than ever. Our daily lives are increasingly digital, with personal data stored on devices and in the cloud, and the products we use (and their production processes) becoming ever more connected. Alongside these developments, cyber threats are becoming increasingly prevalent. In response, cybersecurity is critical to safeguarding data, protecting essential processes, and supporting a resilient global economy.

The diplomatic relations the USA and the Netherlands share are among the oldest continuous bilateral relationships in the United States. Ensuring secure and effective cyber infrastructure is crucial in achieving both countries’ mutual goal towards a more cyber secure world. Together with US counterparts, a joint venture of Dutch companies and knowledge institutes supported by government institutions is working to strengthen global cybersecurity.

Unified approach

The Netherlands can support the USA in their cybersecurity ambitions by taking a unified approach with niche experts and share knowledge and expertise in, amongst others, securing critical infrastructure against cyber threats, protecting human privacy and securely managing data. With this partnership, all layers (logical, physical and social) of cybersecurity are accounted for with the latest, and more innovative, solutions on offer.

Digital gateway

The USA can benefit from the Netherlands’ strategic geographical location and position as digital gateway to Europe. With a highly-skilled workforce, ranked within the global top-5 for cyber-literacy and education, a strong participation in the RSA conference in San Francisco and hosting the One conference in The Hague, the Netherlands focuses on enhancing market entry of cybersecurity businesses and offers a unique entry point to Europe.

Past events

On 21–25 October 2024 we were on the ground across Georgia and Texas to explore emerging cybersecurity challenges and strengthen binational collaboration. In Atlanta, we engaged with local partners at Tech Square, MARTA, and Microsoft, diving into securing critical infrastructure and transit networks. In Houston and Dallas, we explored cybersecurity innovation across energy, healthcare, and finance through visits to Shell, Texas Medical Center, BP, and local government agencies. On 28 April – 1 May 2025 we were at the RSAC Conference in San Francisco to engage with global leaders on the latest trends and innovations in cybersecurity. Together, we explored emerging threats, cutting-edge solutions, and opportunities to strengthen international collaboration. Read more about last year’s participation.

On 11–15 March 2024 we were at the HIMSS Global Health Conference in Orlando, engaging with healthcare innovators at the intersection of digital health and cybersecurity. Together, we spotlighted Dutch cybersecurity excellence at the Cybersecurity Command Center, where companies such as Attic Security, ON2IT, EclecticIQ, and Zivver presented solutions to safeguard digital health innovations. Use cases

IJmuiden sea lock

Physical layer: aXite Security Tools (AST) has proven its comprehensive cybersecurity tools for the protection of the Operational Technology (OT) systems of Sea lock IJmuiden in the simulation environment. The largest sea lock in the world is located in the Netherlands. AST’s intelligent and patented solution, including its AX-BOX Gatekeeper, has been deployed and enabled the client to execute zero trust access control. Moreover, AST has implemented a virtual shield for OT End-point protection, which identifies data or threats in context and provides intrusion detection with active in-depth defence, both at operational (machine) level. This resulted in efficient fully-automated cyber-event management and mitigation, based on classifications of criticality.

Radically Open Security (ROS) performs audits on open-source projects

Logical layer: Radically Open Security (ROS) performs audits on open-source projects as part of the Mozilla Open Source Security (MOSS) project. This has led to (patched) CVEs in foundational technology libraries, and a subset of ROS’s MOSS audit reports are publicly available including: expat, graphite, iterm. These security audits contribute to Mozilla's work and to the health of the Internet.
