Waste2Resources China
The Netherlands and China have built a relationship on trust: In trade, technology, and knowledge exchange. We also share many of the same challenges when it comes to circularity. Both countries face the pressing realities of addressing water scarcity, reducing pollution, and improving resource efficiency and consumption. These are challenges that demand collaboration as much as innovation.
That foundation makes the Waste2Resources China programme, a unique public–private partnership between China and the Netherlands focused on sustainable waste management, circular economy solutions, and clean technologies. The collaboration is part of the Partners for International Business (PIB) bringing together companies, government organisations and knowledge partners from both countries over a three-year period.
Complementary strengths, common goals
Dutch expertise in circular economy and environmental technologies pairs directly with China's capacity for scaling up sustainable innovation. Together, these complementary strengths open new opportunities for both countries and contribute to broader international efforts toward sustainable development and responsible resource management.
The programme brings partners together across the waste management value chain, active in areas spanning solid waste, wastewater treatment, flue gas and waste air treatment, and advanced waste processing.
Building stronger circular value chains
Through open dialogue, technology cooperation, and knowledge exchange, China and the Netherlands can accelerate practical solutions that support sustainable economic development. By combining innovation, practical experience, and international cooperation, the programme contributes to building stronger circular value chains and more sustainable industrial systems; transforming waste into valuable resources for both countries and beyond.
Together, we can transform waste into valuable resources
